Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps has enjoyed having Americans Tobin Heath and Christen Press join her on the field this season.

“For me, [it’s] great to obviously challenge myself against these world class players,” she told reporters on Friday. “Whenever they look like they’re trying to get a bag of balls and they want to shoot, I’m like, ‘Do you need a goalkeeper?’ They know that I’m around whenever they want to do some finishing.”

Since the start of the 2020-21 WSL season in September, Earps has helped her team compile a 4-1-0 (win-draw-loss) record. On Sunday, she will look to keep that undefeated record alive when her squad takes on top ranked Arsenal.

Earps is also aiming to make it back to the national team ranks. She was named to England’s roster for the 2019 World Cup, though she didn’t log any minutes in the tournament. More recently, however, she has been notably absent from her country’s roster, due in part to increased roster depth.

“I want to be in there. I’m very ambitious and hardworking as a character… But at the end of the day, I can only control what I’m putting out on the pitch,” she explained. “I just have to keep pushing forward as an individual, and keep looking to develop as a player and as a person.”
